So I grabbed my July copy of ‘Writers Forum’ magazine and a small leaflet fell out… And I just had to share the news!!! Mslexia magazine are holding a ‘Women’s novel competition 2017 for unpublished authors (Self published authors are welcome to this one which was why I was soooooooo excited).
The 1st PRIZE IS £5,000.
5 finalists will also receive manuscript feedback and introductions to agents and editors.
Judges are – Philippa Gregory (Novelist) Sarah Such (Literary agent) and Alex Clark (Literary journalist).
Novel can be in any genre but must be for adult or young adult readers. Non fiction and fiction for under 13’s is not eligible. To qualify it must be 50,000 words or more!!!
You submit up to 5,000 words which must be the first 5,000 words of the novel.
Complete the novel before entering. Shortlisted entrants will be asked to submit a full manuscript and synopsis for the final stages of the judging process.
Submit work typed, double spaced on A4 sized paper, single sided, with pages numbered and the novels title on every page. The novel will be judged anonymously so do not put your name on the pages of the novel. Use a separate cover page with details; name, address, telephone number, email and the name of your novel you are submitting.
No alterations to be made to novel once submitted.
Submission will not be returned so make sure you send a copy and not the only copy you have. Send an SAE if you want confirmation they have received it.

THE ENTRY FEE IS £25 per novel extract. You can enter as many as you like as long as you pay £25 per one. Entry fee must be in pounds sterling, if overseas you can pay via paypal on the website.
You must not copy another authors work, must be written in English and should not have been accepted for publication by another commercial publisher.
